SMAK Spiritual Retreat: “God’s Masterpiece”

SMAK CGA students recently had a spiritual retreat with the theme “God’s Masterpiece,” inspired by Ephesians 2:10. Held from April 2nd to April 4th, 2024, in Bogor, this year’s retreat aimed to empower students to recognize themselves as divine creations full of purpose, potential, and values. It also focused on helping them take preventive steps against the impact of false self-images.  All SMA students attended the retreat, along with 10 teachers and 2 leaders.

Day one began with the departure to Bogor, followed by an opening worship session and an orientation covering the retreat’s theme, rules, and procedures. The day continued with a sermon on “Loving Yourself as God’s Masterpiece” and concluded with group sharing sessions that fostered deep reflection and connection among students.

Day two was filled with activities designed to build unity and strength. The morning started with a workout session, followed by an inspiring sermon titled “Doing God’s Good Works.” The rest of the morning featured team-building games that encouraged cooperation and teamwork. In the afternoon, students listened to a sermon on “Reconciliation & Forgiveness” and were given time to pray together, forgive each other, and express love. Teachers also prayed for the students. The day continued with a fun outbound activity, including swimming games, and concluded with a bonfire and BBQ, enhancing the sense of community and camaraderie.

The final day began with another morning workout to energize the participants, followed by a morning sermon focused on “Commitment and Unity,”. There was also a moment when teachers washed the students’ feet, emulating Jesus’ act of service to his disciples in the Bible. The day included a drama group contest, fun games, and the announcement of winners. The retreat ended with the students’ departure back to CGA carrying with them a renewed sense of self-worth and unity.

As the retreat finished, students and teachers carried with them a renewed sense of purpose and self-worth. The “God’s Masterpiece” retreat left an indelible mark on all students and teachers, empowering them to embrace their uniqueness and navigate life’s journey with confidence and grace.
