On April 25th, 2024, Cornerstone Global Academy (CGA) held a Music Contest 2024. The event was held in the auditorium (Room M303) from 7:30 a.m. until 11:50 a.m. Students in grades 1–6 showed their musical talents in three categories: solo instrument, solo singing, and group performance. The contest aimed to improve students’ musical skills, foster a deeper appreciation for music, inspire creativity, and encourage teamwork in musical.

The day started with a quiet time in each Learning Community (LC) from 7:00 to 7:30 a.m., followed by teachers briefing the day’s activities to all the kids. The students perform various instruments and songs. The musical compositions chosen for the contest ranged from Christian worship songs, including hymns and contemporary Christian Music, to National Songs from Indonesia and other countries, and Classical Music. The first session featured the Solo instrument contest, where students showcased their talents on various instruments such as piano, keyboard, recorder, cello, drums, percussion instruments with backing tracks, and guitar.

The second part of the contest was the Solo Singing Contest. Students performed a variety of songs in Korean, English, and Indonesian, captivating the audience with their vocal abilities. Some of the notable songs performed included the Korean song “행복” (Haeng Boek), English songs “We are Sprouts,” “1000 Reasons,” “This Little Light of Mine,” “Four Leaf Clover,” and “Jesus Loves Me,” as well as the Indonesian songs “Balonku ada Lima” and “Alusi Au.” The diversity in song selection highlighted the students’ versatile singing abilities.

The event also included dynamic group performances from both lower and upper graders, featuring boys’ groups, girls’ groups, and mixed groups. Noteworthy performances included the upper-grade mixed dance “I Love You Jesus,” the lower-grade girls’ dance “Praise Hosanna,” and the Grade 2 boys’ full band rendition of “I Got Peace Like A River,” complete with piano, drums, guitar, and vocals. Each performance was met with enthusiastic applause, celebrating the students’ hard work and talent.

Winners of the Solo Instrument and Solo Singing Contests for both lower and upper graders were awarded certificates and merits (4000, 3000, 2000 merits for first, second, and third places respectively). Group Performance winners received snacks and 250 merits, and all contest participants were awarded 250 merits for their participation, ensuring that every student’s effort was recognized and celebrated. The CGA Music Contest 2024 was a resounding success, leaving the school community inspired and eagerly anticipating next year’s event.
