SMPTK Students Explore Art and Culture at Museum Seni

On Thursday, October 10, 2024, SMPTK Cornerstone Global Academy organized an educational field trip to three prominent museums in West Jakarta: Museum Tekstil, Museum Wayang, and Museum Keramik. The trip aimed to introduce students to the richness of Indonesian art and culture, providing them with hands-on learning experiences and opportunities for creative expression.

The day began early, with the group departing for Museum Tekstil at 7:30 AM. Upon arrival, students were welcomed by the museum’s stunning collection of traditional Indonesian textiles. In addition to exploring the exhibits, they participated in a batik-making workshop, allowing them to experience the intricate process of batik creation firsthand, deepening their appreciation for this iconic Indonesian art form.

At 11:00 AM, the group continued their journey to Museum Wayang and Museum Keramik. Here, the students resumed their exploration of Indonesia’s cultural heritage. Museum Wayang showcased a vast collection of traditional puppets, where students had the opportunity to take part in a Wayang workshop, learning about the history and techniques behind these famous cultural icons. The day wrapped up with an exciting visit to Museum Keramik. Students explored various ceramic artworks from different regions of Indonesia and participated in a pottery workshop, where they molded clay and created their own ceramic pieces. As with the other museums, students diligently noted down their observations and the new knowledge they gained about the art of ceramics.

This field trip proved to be an enriching experience for the SMPTK students, blending art, culture, and fun. By engaging with Indonesia’s artistic traditions, they deepened their knowledge and appreciation of the nation’s cultural heritage, fostering both intellectual and creative growth.
