As Indonesia celebrated its 79th Independence Day on August 17, 2024, Cornerstone Global Academy (CGA) joined in the nationwide festivities with a special event dedicated to honoring the nation’s rich history and the sacrifices made by its heroes. This day served as a reminder for all students and staff of the importance of unity, freedom, and the values that have shaped the country. CGA took this opportunity to reflect on the contributions of those who fought for independence and to inspire the younger generation to carry forward the spirit of patriotism and national pride.
The celebration began at 7:30 AM and continued until 11:50 AM at the school, involving every student, teacher, and staff member to foster a sense of togetherness across the school. Secondary students were divided into 8 mixed groups of junior and senior high students, while elementary students formed 4 groups combining various grade levels, promoting teamwork throughout the day. Activities included a Flag Raising Ceremony, Sack Race, “Jaga Benteng” game, and “Complete the Puzzle,” where students assembled pieces representing Indonesia’s historical events. The morning concluded with a Tug of War, symbolizing the school community’s strength and unity.
At the end of the day, the winning groups were awarded merits and special prizes for their outstanding teamwork and effort. These rewards served not just as prizes, but as a reminder of the importance of working together and supporting each other. The entire celebration was a resounding success, providing a platform for students and staff to come together, celebrate their heritage, and have fun in the process. Happy Independence Day!
